It is very important that all athletes take at least 10 to 15As a fitness professional, I am often asked what the best home workout exercises are that one can do in the privacy of their own home and that doesn’t require expensive or bulky exercise equipment.

Seeing as though I am an avid believer in working out at home vs wasting time at the gym, to me the answer to this question is quite exciting, and one I wish to be able to teach everyone.

The best home workout exercise is:

Bodyweight squat with overhead press.

When I am short on time and absolutely must get in a 10 minute home workout, this is my go-to home workout exercise.

The reason is that to get the biggest bang (most calories burned) for your buck (exercise efforts) you have to include as many of your major muscle groups as possible in each exercise.

The bodyweight squat with overhead press incorporates all of the muscles in your upper and lower body, which will create a serious afterburn of calories not only while you are completing the exercise but for hours after you stop.

To complete the bodyweight squat with overhead press, simply stand with your feet shoulder width apart with your arms at your sides holding a pair of dumbbells.

Lower your body down into a squat position and then begin to stand back up again. As you are approaching being upright again, press the dumbbells up over your hear until your arms are fully extended. Lower slowly and controlled until the dumbbells are at your shoulders. Being another squat using this method.

I have been looking into the Insanity Asylum calendar strength time to see how much it really focuses on the strength training. I suppose that this is what I want to focus on the most. I want to be able to build up some muscles. I know that toning is really good too, but the most important part for me in this matter is really the strength training.
